The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) organized “Research Destination Turkey Workshops” on 5 April 2016 at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and on 7 April 2016 at Yale University in the US. The event aimed at creating awareness on the latest developments, national and international funding mechanisms by gathering eminent members of the Turkish Scientific diaspora and all other nationalities carrying out competitive research in the US. The target audience was the starting and established researchers, irrespective of their origins, who would like to visit Turkish Research Area at any time of their research career.
The Workshops provided an overview of the major developments in the past years in Turkish Research Area. The focus was on European and Turkish funding opportunities for brain circulation, researchers’ mobility and research career development. More than 100 people have been attended the event on the topics of:
- The European Research Council (ERC) Grants for groundbreaking research
- Marie Skłodowska Curie Individual Fellowships for mobility and career development
- The newly established TUBITAK Award and Support Programme for Horizon 2020
- Opportunities in Bilateral Cooperation Agreement Programmes between TUBITAK and US Agencies
